JO'S 1300 Congress Ave. 444-3800 Hot Coffee Good Food Congress Avenue, just south of the river is where it's these days, baby !! And Liz Lambert is on a roll! She is remodeling The San Jose Motel next door to this open air coffee shop of hers that is too cool. The kolaches , the vegetarian frito pie , and the field greens they put on the scrumptious sandwiches are amongst my favorites. Outdoor seating and the fine-lookin' servers behind the counter make this a must stop for a double cap. And they started serving beer just in time for the HOT SXSW showcase they put on in '99. Various mentions in The Austin Chronicle's Best of Austin 1999 Issue, including Heather Coffey for Best Works of Art on Food Wrappers. Check 'em out.
